Cookie policy

Material-UI SAS a Simplified Joint Stock Company (hereinafter "MUI") uses cookies and other tracking technologies on its website accessible at mui.com, including the pages dedicated to the MUI Store online store, the technical documentation and the client account and console areas (hereinafter the “Website”), in order to ensure its operation, to improve the experience of the Website users (hereinafter the “Users”), to measure audience and to strengthen security.

This cookie policy (hereinafter the “Policy”) is intended to inform the Website User of the manner in which their personal data are collected through the cookies placed on the Website.

This Policy supplements MUI’s privacy policy, accessible at https://mui.com/legal/privacy/ , which describes all of the processing of personal data implemented by MUI in the course of its business.

ARTICLE 1. Definition

A cookie is a small text file placed on the device (computer, smartphone, tablet) when viewing content, a website, an advertisement or when using an application.

It allows, in particular, its issuer to identify a device, to store certain information (for example, to track User activity, to remember their preferences) and to facilitate browsing. Certain cookies are essential and necessary for the use of the Website, others make it possible to optimise and personalise the online content displayed, and others make it possible to display advertisements.

Cookies do not directly identify a User; they only make it possible to identify a browser or a device. Certain trackers used on the Website nevertheless make it possible to identify the professional entity from which a visit originates.

The use of cookies may make it possible to link browsing data to a User’s profile, including when they use several devices, in order to enable the tracking of a User’s journey, regardless of the medium or device used.

The tracking technologies implemented may also include mechanisms other than cookies, such as web logs, web beacons or technical identifiers.

These mechanisms make it possible to collect, directly or indirectly, certain information relating to the use of the Website and the services, in particular in order to ensure their proper operation, to measure traffic, to analyse User interactions or to improve the browsing experience.

ARTICLE 2. Data collected via cookies and web logs

When interacting with MUI’s Website, certain information may be collected automatically, in particular:

  • The IP address and the domain name;
  • The browser type, the operating system and certain technical identifiers;
  • The pages viewed, the visit timestamps and the browsing paths;
  • An approximate location (city or region), in particular from the IP address.

Depending on the cookies accepted and refused, this information makes it possible in particular to ensure the proper operation of the Website, to improve its performance and to optimise browsing.

For further information on all personal data processed by MUI, their purposes, their legal bases and their retention periods, the User is invited to consult the privacy policy accessible at https://mui.com/legal/privacy/ .

ARTICLE 3. Types of cookies used

MUI may use different types of cookies, in particular:

  • Strictly necessary Cookies: essential for the operation of the Website, for access to certain functionalities and for the security of the Website. These cookies are exempt from consent.
  • Audience measurement and performance Cookies: intended to analyse the use of the Website, to measure audience and to improve the performance of the services. Their placement is subject to the prior consent of the User.
  • Personalisation Cookies: intended to adapt the display or certain functionalities according to the User's preferences (language, region, display mode). Where they are not strictly necessary for the operation of the Website, their placement is subject to prior consent.
  • Interaction Cookies: placed by the chat widget and by the web push notification service available on the online store, in order to enable the exchange of messages with MUI and the delivery of notifications to which the User has subscribed. Their placement is subject to prior consent.
  • Business identification and prospecting Cookies: placed by a third-party provider, these cookies make it possible to identify the professional entity from which a visit to the Website originates and to support MUI's commercial activity. Their placement is subject to prior consent. MUI uses no advertising pixel and no social network widget placing cookies, and does not carry out any advertising campaign measurement.

MUI may use:

  • session cookies, deleted upon closing the browser;
  • persistent cookies, retained until the User deletes them or until the expiry of their lifetime.

Cookies that are not strictly necessary (in particular audience measurement, personalisation and advertising cookies) are placed only after the User’s consent has been obtained. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent.

MUI may also use web beacons in certain electronic communications in order to determine, for example, whether a message has been opened or whether an interaction has taken place. These elements make it possible to improve communications and to optimise the experience.

ARTICLE 4. Cookie preferences management

Upon the first visit to the Website, a cookie banner informs the User of the presence of cookies and invites them to indicate their choice.

This banner allows:

  • Accepting all or some of the cookies;
  • Refusing all or some of the cookies;
  • Refusing all cookies that are not strictly necessary.

Cookie preferences may be set and modified at any time via the cookie preferences centre available on the Website. It is also possible to manage preferences via the following link: https:///mui.com/#cookie-preferences .

Refusal of non-essential cookies does not prevent access to the Website, but may limit certain functionalities (statistics, personalisation).

It is also possible to configure the browser in order to refuse all or some of the cookies. As each browser has specific settings, the “Help” menu of the relevant browser should be consulted. Blocking or refusing certain cookies may result in a degradation of the operation of the Website or prevent access to certain functionalities.
